I had postnatal depression when I had had Adam but it wasn't diagnosed until I was starting to get over it. I think I was low for about 9 months but got through it myself. My dilemma at the moment is I think Im in a similar situation again but this time as I am struggling to cope. I had Zarah 6 months ago and Im also 4 months pregnant. Is it possible to have PND while Im pregnant as well?? Ive realised for the past 2 months I haven't been myself and I just don't know what to do. It all came to a head last night when Dave basically told me in black and white what Ive been like and the way Ive been acting. It wasn't very nice to hear him say it but he was right and its made me think I need some help. I just don't know where to go from here. I didn't realise it would be this hard just writing it.

Well done for writing it! I know its difficult to admit it. You can have depression, either post natal or pre natal whilst being pregnant. The most important thing is to get yourself up to your GP and tell them how you feel.
Its good that your partner has noticed, I hope he will support you on this. Good luck!

when I told my gp that I wanted to come off the meds because I wanted to ttc she told that the anti-d I was on was very light and was safe to take during pregnancy.
Go to you Gp anf have a chat.

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling this way, but well done for recognising that all is not right.
There is a form of depression called antenatal depression (AND), which is not heard of very often but its thought to be as common as post natal depression. I suffered from AND and PND although didn't know I'd had AND until about 6 months after Ella was born. Like PND, it is totally treatable, and if necessary there are anti d's that you can take when pregnant if thats what your doctor feels necessary.
Please do go and have a chat with your GP and see what they say. Hang in there, and let us know how you get on.

I couldn't get a doctor's appointment which is the norm here so I phoned the midwives instead and someone is coming to see me today. Thankyou for all your kind words they make me feel a bit more normal! I will let you all know what happens over the next few days.

Hiya Amy,
I'm glad you have spoken out about how you are feeling now, before things could have felt much worse for you. I've never had any form of depression to my knowledge, but from what iv read on here, it must have been really a hard step to take. I hope you can get the help you need to feel yourself again, and as already said, everyone's here to listen to the up's and downs... as and when you need us! Good Luck with it all hun x-x-x
