Have given up on ttc for now as I just have no sex drive at all, in fact, I find the whole idea of sex disgusting just now.

Have been to see my GP and was prescribed Fluoxitene as they don't give out Amytriptilene (sp) anymore which is what I have always used in the past.

My worst thing is that I can't sleep, but I have been told to take one 20mg tab in the morning. Wont it make me drowsy though ?

Hi Hazy.

I'm on Fluoxitine at the moment and have been for 15 months now. I've also had it before for about 6 months.

Like Jenny has said, it can take a week or so to kick in but I have to say, they have worked really well for me. Not being able to sleep and a lack of sex drive are symptoms of depression and so the fluoxitine will help. Not being able to sleep was one of my biggest problems both this time with the PND and before when I was depressed. You can take herbal Nytol and also Valerian Root - which is a herbal sleep remedy. I found that the Valerian Root worked best for me.

Hang in there. Lack of sleep is one of the most soul destroying things that can happen to a person, thats why its used in some places as a form of torture!

Without blowing my own trumpet, there's an article on here about sleep deprivation. Click HERE to read it. Although its mainly aimed at baby related lack of sleep, there's some stuff in there that I found really useful and was one of the main reasons I wrote the article.

Take care, and remember we're all here for you.

Hugs

Dizie xxx
