Just was wondering how long we will have to wait until it's his turn to get snipped and as I can't drive, would he be ok to drive himself home from the hospital ? I'm really proud of him for deciding do this. We really don't want anymore kiddies and we will be together until one of us pops our clogs !!

He probably wont be allowed to drive himself home as he will have had an anesthetic. Can you get someone else to pick him up? A friend/family member?

Well done for going for it. DH has been talking about it for ages and I am finally ready to give in and let him do it.

He won't be able to drive back home.. when dh had the snip he had to get a taxi back home.

Just make sure this is definatly what you want. Dh went for his just after Jaimee was born, at the time i didn't want anymore evil kids, but now, i am sooo broody.. i really want another.. but hey ho...

Oh, and don't take the mick when he starts to walk like John Wayne.. Dh did this about 2 day's after for a few days.. i was wetting myself.. he wasn't to impressed.. hahahahahaha...

I've not had anyone who's had this done but it has been brought up in discussion... As far as i'm aware it's done using a local (might be wrong). As for driving afterwards i'm not sure of the timescale but i know my dad (not the thing he likes to discuss) returned to work 2 days later.

Hope you don't have to wait too long x

My DH had the snip 4mths ago. He had a general (due to something else that needed doing at the same time) however normally it is done under local anaesthetic. My DH was in and out within about 6 hours, however if your DH is having it done under the local, it'll only be 2-4 hours. He won't be allowed to drive home, so you'll need to arrange for someone else to collect him or for a taxi to pick him him. My DH was little sore when he got home, but he was feeling less tender within a couple of days. My friend's Husband had it done under a local about a year ago and he went back to work the following day.

Well Done to your DH. If you're both sure that its what you want, it's a really considerate and sensible choice to make

Stewart had it done in July.  He was in and out in ten minutes!  He just had the local anesthetic.  He says if it's just a short distance he probably could drive as initially it isn't sore- just "a heightened sense of fragility"!   and doesn't affect your legs- it's sore the day after though.  Probably better to make arrangements just in case though.
