You have to laugh.  My "brilliant" midwife, who visibly shakes at the sight of me coming with my twin bump was well on form today.  I STILL haven't discussed the birth of these wee bubbas, and today voiced my concerns again.

"Oh the consultant will probably induce you at 38 weeks" she said cheerfully.

Mmmmm, what if I need a section?

"Oh, that'll still be your date"

I reminded her that I have two other wee children, and if that's the case I'll be still in hospital over Christmas.

She laughed, "Don't worry- we'll sort you out".

Hhehhe!

Then she popped me on the table and said, "Oh there's a head.... there's the other one.... oh, but that feels like a head too"

Jee Whizz!  thankfully my scans have only shown two babies!

O-Kay.... So, by 'sorting you out', do we assume she'll be popping by to help dh with the christmas dinner then?!

Even though I only had the one in there at once, the midwives could never tell with Joe whether they were feeling his head or his bum! Apparently when they're on the bony side (!) they both feel the same!

When do you actually get to see your consultant? Do you have the consultant's secretary's number so that you could ring up and talk to someone who might actually be of use? It's mad that they aren't giving you any proper plans. Start phoning people until you get to speak to someone useful.

I had a midwife like this when i was pg with harrison, I got that frustrated with her and her lack of information i rang the midwifery unit at the hospital and asked to be seen by another midwife.

One came out from the hospital a few days later and told me more in that 30 mins that the last god knows how many antenatal appointments.

I'd try that otherwise do as rachel says and ring the consultants secratary and ask to be seen.  If your going to be induced at 38 weeks then it doesnt leave you much time to organise things.

good luck

She sure instills confidence...not! If you haven't seen consultant yet get an appointment soon!! You need to be doubly organised and they should understand this! Hope you're not in hosp for Christmas, thats pants, although for a good reason lol

lol - that's reassuring then!!! Thank goodness for scans! I agree with the other ladies - I'd be arranging to see the consultant. I'm amazed at how laid back the midwife is!

Ha ha. I knew this would have been posted by you !

Does your fab midwife not have kids and realise what you are going
through?
your treatment has been nothing less that disgusting.
what are they playing at ?
my friend who stays not to far away from you had a baby the day
before roisin was born, she had loads of probs with the MW and
evetually i think she settled with one and refused to deal with anyone
else because she was treated so badly
i agree with the others, i would be contacting the consultant directly
or call and speak to ward 22 and see what they can do for you.
i know there isn't a lot she can do but why don't you have a chat to
ann-marie (community mothers) and see if she can point you in the
right direction or even gwyneth - she works in the hospital as a MW.

you might give me a good excuse not to feud with families if you are
in on xmas day - problem solved. we'll have to come and visit you !

I have visions of your babies lining up, waiting for the mw to feel the 1st head then baby 1 moves round to get its head over to be the 3rd head... brilliant sence of humor already your babies!

My friend who had twins in April had a consultants appointment at about 30 weeks to discuss the "plan" for their birth. Her plan consisted of her having weekly mw appointments from 35 weeks and to be induced at 38 weeks unless the mw was concerned. As it turned out, she went into labour at 36 weeks and the boys arrived within 2 hours of her getting to the hospital!

She was told that 37 weeks is classed as "term" for twins so to have her hossie bag ready from about 33 weeks.

Def worth a call to your community midwife team as it doesn't sound right that you've not seen a consultant.

Am still routing for a Christmas Day arrival (quick and with minimal disruption!) so that I can share my birthday with the Wee Taylor Twins!

she sounds like a right dozy mare!

the mws that checked both Ellie's and Hannah's positions could never work out whether they were feeling bums or heads either!!
