I know that a positive is generally a positive, but what if there was a mark in the testing box that wasn't a line or +? Is this a failed result? I know someone who has recently tested and apparently the line went horizontal across the testing box, faintly, and the control box had a vertical line. (instructions say 2 vertical lines indicate a positive result) I said that it may just be an evaporation line or something and she should test again, but she has got herself into a right state thinking she is pregnant. There was no vertical line so could this be a negative result? Clearly she needs to test again but I would rather try calming her down and putting her mind at rest, then she'll feel more able to do the second test.
