Has anyone had this?

At my scan on Tuesday they said my waters were the lower levels of nornal.

I have to be re-scanned regularly, my next scan is next Thursday.

They said if my levels have gone down they will give me steroid injections, what does this mean? Why are my levels low and does this mean I won't get my home birth?

Hun i'm only guessing from what i know but the steriod injections will be to help mature your lo's lungs etc as lowering water levels could mean you have a small whole where your waters are escaping..... which could bring on early labour.... as for being allowed a home birth i'd ask them straight out and get a straight answer back....

They terrified my sister with this one. Told her baby was small for dates and there was very little water. Scanned her the following week and everything was fine.

She's being induced at 39weeks due to previous problems but she and baby are fine, Roll on Feb19th if bubs doesn't arrive before.

Try not to worry too much, it does sound like they are taking good care of you both. And as Tsena said the steroids are for baby's lungs to mature them earlier incase you do have an early labour/birth.

Thinking of you

Kate

I had this exact same thing happen with my first born Brandon (now 2 years old) I had a small leak very early on in pregnancy which ment my waters were dropping lower every week. I had to have twice weekly scans and they finally decided to induce me when I had only 2cms of water left at 38 weeks!! People are right about the steroid injections, they will be to strengthen your babies ungs incase your lower water levels mean you have to be induced earlier xx
