Hey All,

Oh Gawd, I'm soooooo nervous! I've got my deciding appointment with my Consultant at 11am this morning. This is basically when he examines me and checks Millie-Bumps position, then tells me whether I can deliver normally or whether I've got to have another caesarian (I had an emergency CS with DD because she was undiagnosed breech) I know the idea of a CS doesn't sound all that bad, but with me being on so much medication for my Urticaria and having major problems in the last couple of years with having allergic reactions to loads of different painkillers, I'm really scared that if I have the CS I'm gonna have some huge reaction to the spinal that gonna make either me or Millie-bump or both really poorly I know there's nothing I can do about it now other than accept what the consultant says and talk through my concerns with him, but just at the moment I feel like I have a coiled spring in my stomach.

Please keep everything crossed for me that he says everything is OK and I can do the birth the way I want to....

Yipee! Yay! Yipee! As you can probabaly guess things went quite well

Arrived at hospital 20 minutes early, after having an horrendous time searching for a car park (there are major issues with a lack of parking at our hospital) When I got to the ANDU we noticed that my consultant was marked as away on on the board, which of course made me twitter even more. The waiting room was absolutely red hot (why do hospitals have to be like ovens? lol) so by the time we got into our appontment, I was a sweaty nervous mess The nurse came in first and did me urine and blood pressure which were both fine. We then waited 10 minutes in our little side room until the replacement consultant came in to see us. She was really pleasant and spent the first ten minutes going through my notes and discussing my concerns with us. She agreed with what I was saying I wanted, but did express a little concern about the lack of methods of pain relief I was thinking about (I'm basically aiming for nothing but gas and air and the natural methods such as breathing, bath, birthing ball etc) I convinced her that I was 110% determined and mentally prepared to stick to my pain relief plan if possible, rather than risk any medical intervention that may cause me to have an allergic reaction. We finally got to the bit where she got me to get onto the bench and examined where Millie-Bump was. She was really quite heavy handed and apologised for being so rough, but explained she needed to make sure she could feel everything. It was a bit sore, but TBH I was quite happy cos I wanted her to make sure she got it right. Anyhow, after having a good feel of my bump and round my pelvis, she seemed pretty sure that Millie-Bump was head down and in the right position. I asked her how sure 'pretty sure' was and she said that she was as sure as she could be without a scan and she didn't really think that was necessary. I'd been determined to push for a scan, however I was still stressed and distracted so didn't have the will to push her. Fortunately DH did and politely insisted he really felt after all I'd been through last time, it was important that they made sure they were getting things right this time. It just so happened that the portable scanner was outside, so the Consultant agreed and the nurse fetched it in. She scanned my pelvis area and sure enough there was the back of our little Millie-Bumps head-yay! Her head isn't fully engaged yet, but it's moving down into my pelvis nicely so there's every chance she' going to engage normally in the next couple of weeks and there should be no reason for me to have another CS (unless something unforeseeable crops up, but that's a risk in every birth anyway) She's said I'll allowed to progress as a normal pregnancy between now and the birth, and then I'll just be monitored more thoroughly during the birth, but other than that everything should be normal.

I'm really relieved and it feels great to know I now have the same chance as everyone else to give birth in the way that I want to
