I have just found out that im pregnant, im estimating that i am around 8 weeks gone, going to the doctors next week and stuff.

I haven't got a clue about anything pregnancy related but i would like to know roughly, how long is it until you feel the baby move ?

And how far on do i have to be to have a 4d scan that will tell me the sex of the baby ?

Thanks xxxx

Hi Nicola.

Its good to get yourself well informed and prepared for the changes that's going to happen in the forthcoming months.
With my first pregnancy, i felt the first movements around the 21 week stage.. but as many women will tell you, the more children you have, the earlier you start to notice them.
At first, people describe them as like little butterflies in your tummy, like flutterings. And then you will start to feel tiny taps on your belly, and then you get the lovely, big kicks.

You normally get a 'dating scan' around 8 to 12 weeks to decide how many weeks pregnant you are, although that does depend on which hospital your under as they can differ slightly around the country.
And then, usually you will get a more detailed scan to measure how your baby is developing at around 20 weeks, which they will be able to tell you the sex there.
There can be a number of scans inbetween for various reasons too.
I've never had a 4d scan myself, but there are few ladies who have just had them done, and a few who will be having them soon.
I think they are done towards the third trimester though, but they really are wonderful to see.

I hope that helps answer some of your questions?
x-x-x

congrats on your pregnancy, and yep, you dont need a 4D scan to tell babies sex, that can be done at ur normal 20 week ultrasound check up. As for 4D scans, for single baby pregnancy you have to be at least 24 weeks with most companys, multiple pregnancys can be done slightly earier xx
