Lavender and Camomile to relax are meant to be good.  Clary Sage to bring on labour so not before 38wks.

I was planning on using aromatherapy in my labour and had all the stuff ready and waiting......and then ended up with an emergency section!! LOL!

So anyway, I had an oil for use during labour by a company called Cariad. It had the following oils in:

Frankincense
Mandarin
Lemon
Lavender
Peppermint

I also bought a pot of clary sage which as Sam says helps to bring on the contractions, and helps to make them more effective. I never used it and its sat in front of me at the moment!! If you'd like it for your friend, you are more than welcome to have it!! PM me and I'll post it to you - but I'll send it recorded to make sure that it doesn't take 5 weeks to get to you!! LOL!

A tennis ball is good idea too. I'm not joking!! If you are using massage during labour, the birth partners hand can get a bit worn out rubbing the bottom of the back - a tennis ball can be used to roll around on the base of the back - and its fantastic!!! And it doesn't matter if it gets coverred in oil!!!
