Well I deceided I'm feeling better so I can safely type without it coming out nasty! lol
As you know I had my scan, but they are going by the scan dates, which puts my edd at 28th July! However, although they put me at that date I have some questions and if anyone here can answer them for me I'd be grateful!
If my dates according to them are accurate then that makes me having conceived on October 21st, how come there was a faint positive test on the 20th?
My other question is if at my last scan they put me at 8+2 and the measurements tell me(head circ) that lo is 11 weeks today! then how come 8+4=12 weeks
Cos these are the 2 questions that don't add up in my head!
And again they confirmed it is only 1!, and the stupid scan woman started to argue with me! lol
Anyway there you have it, but I will be seeing my mw on MOnday and she better have a decent answer cos I'm not going back if she doesn't!

Aww babe, all i can do is send u big hugz!!!! u already know what i think, u need to stay relaxed for the lo. u also need to make arrangements for another scan to make sure the lo is growing efficently! r u sure sure that there was a positive??? do the dates add up to a possible date of conception? i know todays scan wasnt what u were hoping for, but at least the lo is ok!

Hello hun, im too in the same kinda boat as going by my periods and wen the test was positive i should be 39 weeks pregnant but even tho all mw and docs agree with me cause the scan says different they put me to be 35 weeks. So if bubs comes early and they say he is on time i will certainly be telling them that do the scans that they aint always right as the measurements they take goes by an average size baby so if i have a small baby them i will measure at a smaller date.

Wow am feeling much better today! it seems like a good cry and shout does the world of good! Poor ds2 got the brunt of it as he kept asking stupid questions and answering back at the wrong time, dh just sat there saying how many times have i told you when mommy's like this shut up! lol Bless him, he's had a hug and apology this morning! If they are gonna go by their dates then so be it, I will let them think they know best, but I will keep my determination, and if I feel the slightest of what I went through with Fred I will demand they take baby out! The consultant already knows my opinion, and has said we will see how things go and thgat was after the last scan! Dh has bought me some proper food, and although I hate cooking and eating it with a vengeance, if it's gonna help lo then my feelings be damned, and after all, I can't eat any worse than I already do!
Anyway it's turning into a ramble, just thought I'd let you know I'm feeling better!
And anyway I can't dwell on anything as I have got loads of housework to do, and I also have a tapestry to get done, as well as some tickets for a charity fundraiser as I have been requested by name! lol, so as you can see more than enough to keep my mind going!

Vix, have only just seen this and am so sorry to hear what happened, but am glad that you are feeling better this morning.
I'm afraid I have no answers on the dates as I'm as confused as you on what they're saying. Its all very well to change the dates a little, but that seems a bit mad. If your mw can't answer you, can you talk directly to the consultant?
I really hope that this gets sorted out soon.
Take care xxxxxxxxx
PS - Nice sheep avatar by the way!! Is it Dolly the Sheep? I wondered cos with Mum2J having 1 the same, I wondered if Alice had cloned them for you!!!

lol Dizie! I think Chris will be going back to her normal one! lol
The consultant was useless just after the last scan, he said even if I could give them the exact date of conception, they would still go by the scan! But at least he was honest

oooh I LOVE puzzles lol but I'm a bit confused so bear with me as I haven't got all the dates and stuff - if they say your EDD is 28th July, that means (counting back 40 weeks) don't they they think that your LMP was Oct 21st, not the date that you conceived (because pg isn't calculated in weeks from conception, it is calculated from LMP, usually about 2 weeks before conception?) ..?
So THEY think that you conceived on or about the 4th Nov (2 weeks after Oct 21st)...? and you first posted to tell us you were pg on 24th Nov which would be nearly 3 weeks after THEY think that you conceived and is plenty of time to get the positive test result...
what dates do YOU have for LMP and when do you think you conceived?
and sorry but I don't understand your second question!

Greedy!
My LMP is 16th September, and I had a faint pos 20th October, but left it til November like I've done with all my pg's I've left it that extra month to be sure!
According to my last scan I was 8 weeks 2 days done just 4 weeks prior to this one! The measurement of babys head in this scan was apparently 11 weeks just under, so that would nmean only 3 weeks had passed since the last scan! 8+4 is 12 so it's obvious to me baby isn't growing at the rate it's supposed to!
However for peace of mind I have ordered pregnacare, to give my body the boost of vitamins it needs!
And in case anyone else is confused! The baby will feed off you regardless of what vitamins etc you have in your body, but seeing as though I usually have a proper feed once a fortnight according to ds1 I don't have the goodness in my body for lo to have! hence why I know my babies don't grow until the middle of the pg, as that is when I suddenely start eating everything in sight, usually the right stuff as you crave what your baby needs!

I always thought than when they put things like 8+2 that it meant 8wks and 2days. So if they put 8+4 that would mean 8wks and 4days which is even more confusing. I think different hospitals may do it slightly differently, I would check that out with the mw as one of the mw's did write mine down incorrectly one week but corrected it the next time.
Like Greedy says we need your LMP to be able to calculate a little better. It also depends on your menstrual cycle most peoples is 28 days but it can varie from 24days to 35days. Mine is 26days. It's not an accurate science that is why they go from the scan dates and measurements as most babies grow approx the same for the first 12-20wks. If you ovulated on the 10th October and conceived then you would be due around 17th July which is only about 10days out from their dates. Let us have a little more info if you want to and we will try and work it out for you.
Sorry that you are having this hassle. On the plus side, at least you and baby are healthy. Did they say the baby had grown since your last scan? Oh and I'm still jealous
