So it goes like this:
I want a reliable contraceptive that doesn't need much thinking about. So far the mini pill, condoms, combine pill and implant have proved fruitless.
I've currently got Implanon in my arm (an implant that releases hormones), but on its own it's hellish because I suffer severe cramps and constant bleeding as a result. So the doc put me on a combi pill to regulate the periods and slow down the bleeding. Last month she called me and told me that 3 months of pumping two loads of hormones into my body has probably thrown it into confusion.
I was confused by this as for three months my periods have been manageable and regular with being on both implanon and the combi pill. Yet she insisted on consulting the local hospital to sound out their opinion on double dosing the hormones and she wasn't happy for me to continue.
Now I'm back to severe cramping and yucky bleeding.
I'm looking at having the injection so could anyone who has had it give me their opinion. I am also open to other suggestions, but not the coil-ewwww.

Lol! Sorry- couldn't resist!
I'm with you on the coil thing, the thought of it makes me feel sick. My mum had one fitted when she was having problems with flooding, and it was more bother than it was worth- it became infected (YUCCKKK)
My friend had the injection and found it OK- I think you only need to have it every few months?

I had the injection and it made me put on weight and become depressed too, there is a lot of research on the www about the link of the injection to depression, this only happened the second time i was on the injection, before having ds i had this and was fine.

I'm on the depo injection and have been for about 9 months now. The only problem i've come across is feeling quite bloated when my period is due, but other than that, no other side efects at all. Some women have slight bleeding around their period, but I have no periods full stop!!!
I've found this the easiest (and most reliable) form of contraception for me, with very few side effects.. as my memory isnt always on top form now a days, so one injection every 3 months suits me down to the ground!

All contraceptions are different for each person. The injection is good in that its once every 3 months (or sometimes 11 weeks) and thats it and often stops your periods altogether. Whilst on it though you need good willpower (in a lot of cases) to maintain your weight. You know when you get the sweet ttooth thing just before you are due on, I found I had this all the time after having the injection, so did my sil. She said though once she ignored the craving for sweet stuff it soon went and now she has no problems on the injection has been on it forever.
I didnt like the coil, was just like a smear to have it fitted but my body didnt like it and kinda it all went a wee bit wrong pmsl so I dont reccommend that but it works for millions of others lol
Cant you just take the combination pill without the implant? If the implant makes u crappy, and the pill seemed to help, maybe you dont need the implant then you just have to remember to take the pill. but unlike the mini pill you dont have to take it at the same time, so I used to just take mine before bed whatever time that would be. I did fall pregnant on it though ha ha ha but that was 5 years down the line lol

The first time I was on the injection I was ok with it, I then stopped using it as my husband had the snip and when I got divorced went back on it. Whether it was depression caused by the divorce or the depo injection that made the depression worse I don't know but I have tried to use it twice now in the last 6yrs and I feel so low on it that I stopped trying in the end. It was good for me though in it stopped my af totally for the whole time I was on it. The other thing to consider with the depo is if you decide to have more children in the future it can cause fertility problems for some women, it can take up to 6 months to leave your body.
For me I hate taking tablets as I have to take so many anyway, I hate condoms and have a latex allergy.... The pill makes me suicidal. The coil isn't something I would consider having personally. So I used the cap which I found really easy, means you don't mess with your cycle and there are no tablets involved. You can plan ahead too and once it's in you don't know it is there.
