I know i should get some contrecption sorted out i cant go on the Mirena coil as i fell pregnant with my Daughter on this method she was born 8wks early due to this couldnt remove coil, was ment to have my tubes tied in August 07 after fighting the NHS for a yr and falling pregnant with my fourth while fighting for it but turned it down as got in to a new relantionship with my partner who has no kids so we wanting to try nx yr. I was ment to go in the contrecptive patch but the family clinic wouldnt give it to me as they said it too expensive and my doctors are still tryin to find out if they can supply it as no one has ever asked, i dont dare have the injection as heard so many bad things

Condoms? As you're in a new relationship I'd have thought these were best all round.
Welcome to madmums! Hope you manage to sort out your contraception quickly. Can't you take the contraceptive pil or mini pill in the meantime just to goive you some peace of mind.

Hi Gemma, I'm Amanda, im 26 and i also have 4 children. Welcome to Madmums. Have you spoken to your Gp about all the different forms of contraception avaliable yet? They will have the best advice concerning what you can take with the fewest side effects, as some things suit different people better than others. I'm on the injection and have been on it now for a year or so, i have no unwanted symptoms.. but there are ladies on here who have had side effects from it. Condoms are probably the best to use when in a new relationship.. but i found being on something else aswell is always advisable, as accidents can happen!! I hope you manage to find something thats suitable for you. x-x-x

I had the injection and it made me feel depressed and moody, i came off it and all is well now, i would never go back on the depo injection but it effects everyone differently.

I have had similar problems to you.
I feel pregnant on the pill - had to have the coil removed because it aggrevated my hip condition (possibly) - had horrible side effects on the injection and as the implant is the same hormones I wont risk it. I am currently on a different pill but my hubby is pretty nervous about making me pregnant which can make sex difficult as he gets worried afterwards. We are looking at different methods but its very difficult.

im on the patch and nobody else i know has ever been offered it or even heard of it,they rarely give it out due to its expense and often has the same effects on fertility as the depo injection does, ive been off it for 3months now and am ttc#2 but have been told by my doc it could take anything upto a year once youv been on it a while...xx

You could try the diaphragm for contraception. You can put it in during the evening or anytime that you think you might have sex so don't have to stop midway through. Used with a spermacide it's very effective and easy to use. You normally have to have a fitting for it and they teach you how to insert it, once you get used to it it's very quick and easy.

Hello.
I have the implant (Implanon), and like you have experienced some not so nice side effects: mainly weight gain and erratic periods. I tend to bleed quite heavily, from 7-10 days around every 14 days - it costs a fortune in tampons! It was so bad my GP put me on the Pill at the same time.
I'm no longer in a relationship so there's no real reason for me to have the implant nor any contraception for that matter. I've just not got round to having it taken out, but I really should if only to get my body back to normal.
I am interested to learn about the benefits of other contraception though. Hope you find one that suits you soon.
