I feel really bad because Im not able to look after Joshua like I usually do on a weekend. I've been out of bed twice today, once to make his breakfast, and now on route to make his lunch.

This is the only time when being a single parent really gets me down. I feel pants, I look pants, and I must have a temperature because Joshua wont cuddle me, Im too minging hot for cuddles he said lol

He's been really good all morning, played quietly at the foot of the bed, while I layt in it. I cant expect him to do that all weekend. Im up now but just sitting here I want to go to bed, and after I made his breakfast all I wanted to do was sleep. Ive taken some anadin things so hopefully they'll start to kick in soon, but I feel like Im letting Joshua down.

Its weird, I have all the pains and everything else yet over time I've learnt how to deal with them and Joshua, a slight head cold and Im knocked off my feet lolol Head is pounding, nose is sore, eyes are yucky and sticky and I get ear ache when I blow my nose. I just want to curl up in a ball in a dark room with my duvet and sleep.

How do you guys keep your los entertained when you're not well? I hate having no energy for him  Urgh he's turned onthe noisey toys now, I best make his lunch so he's distracted lolol

Sorry to hear you're not feeling too well Chris, but as you know, parents can't be ill, its not in their contract!!  many times I have wanted to curl up and hide away in bed, but because of one thing or another, I couldnt.  I know its doubly as hard for you being a single parent, but being ill - thats just not on your role profile

I tend to make them feel specail watch tv under a duvet with me on sofa or all of us in bed watching tv.

Get them some snacks which he can help himself to and a drink in a bottle/beaker so he can be independent. Colouring crayons also a good thing as he can sit in your bed with a tray colouring you a get well picture...

get well soon hun

I think Joshua isn't to well now. We went for a short walk to get a loaf of bread and made lunch, but he's now fast asleep. Its not like him, he doesn't feel warm but I think he might to have a cold. Now I cant rest thinking about him lol When he wakes up I think a spoon of calpol for him, tablets for me and we can both curl up in mummy's bed and sleep the rest of the day lolol

Yeah, it's pants being a single parent at times, you have no-one to turn to.  Plus, you can't just go to bed to suffer because who'd look after the rascal?  Thank gawd for childcare, I say, although it's the weekends that are the hardest.

I'm lucky that I have my mum.  However, she works mornings and I hate to put on her so I just get on with it.

My gripe is mainly with work.  My contract stipulates that if you have more than 10 working days off sick or more than 2 separate incidences off sick then you'll not be eligible for promotion.

Just recently I came down with a nasty cold.  All headaches, stuffed sinuses and sneezing, but worried about taking time off. So instead I went to work wrapped in layers of woolley clothing (it wasn't cold but I couldn't stop shivering) and infected everyone else! So now we're a team of four sniffling individuals who'd rather be at home getting better than being unproductive at work.

Hope you feel soon, lovey, I have every sympathy.
