Took Max to a session at SureStart today and found that they're piloting a new scheme called 'Rhyme Bags'.
Each bag is based around a nursery rhyme, in our case 'baa baa black sheep (Max's fave), and inside are props (in ours two teddybear sheep), maracas, a nursery rhyme cd, song sheet, story book and contents card.
The scheme is free and works on a loan basis. All I had to do was sign for it, say I will bring it back in a fortnight at the latest and then bring it back to swap it for another bag.
We've listened to the cd which was recorded locally and danced around playing the maracas. Tom runs off with the sheep in the hope that he can post them in the laundry bin without mummy seeing and the story book was lovely to read to them before bed time.
I know I harp on about SureStart, but it is a brilliant institution for little or no cost at all.
Bonus-I even managed to speak to other adults!!!!
