A few questions for those of you who have suffered a miscarriage. How many of you had a miscarriage and then went on to have a successful pregnancy and also how long did you wait before ttc?
I think that we will try again at some point, I'm not 100% sure when as I want to make sure that my body has sorted itself out. Its been 8 weeks since my ERPC and I'm on my 2nd AF since, and fingers crossed - everything seems to be back to normal at last. My AF is worse than it normally is, but I expected that from what I've read of other peoples experiences. The last lot of antibiotics cleared up the infection (I hope!) and so I had some bleeding-free days in the run up to AF.
I think I want to give myself at least 1 more cycle just to make sure, but am interested in other people's experiences in the meantime. I know that everyone is different, but its nice to hear from people who have been in the same position as you.

After my first mc in Decmeber we waited to try until our 3rd cycle afterwards and I fell pregnant straight away. Then I mc'ed again. When I spoke to the EPAC mw she said if you get a good egg and a good sperm it doesn't matter how long you wait there is no magic time that will gaurentee it works next time. Most dr's are trained to reccomend a woman to wait for 3 months because that is how long it is thought most peoples grieving process takes. AS for having a successful pregnancy I will let you know.

I had 2 mc's between ds2 and dd! So in 15 months I had 3 started pregnancies. I didn't ttc any of mine, I actually had been on the pill, which actually caused one of my mc's but came off the pill, and didn't look back. If I'm honest I'm kind of relieved about how things went, as the only time I conceived a girl was within 2 months of a miscarraige. Good luck with whatever you decide, whether to wait or try again.

I had a missed miscarriage in 2002, it was a molar pregnancy and I was advised to wait 2 years before ttc again. However, that pregnancy wasn't planned and the night before the ERPC my partner and I went our separate ways he didn't show up at the hospital. Then 17 weeks later I was told I was 19 weeks pregnant. Impossible? Only explaination is that Joshua was dividing happily away in the fallopian tube, as, if he had been in the womb he would have been evacuated and no way could have survived.
If it is meant to be, then it will be no matter how much time has passed.

Though it was nearly 10 years ago now, I had a MC before I had Chloe. I was only 17 and I knew it just wasn't the right time for me. I was waiting for my 1st AF to show after the MC but it never arrived. Turned out I was pregnant again and 9 months later I had Chloe. I think it's just a matter of try when you're ready, if your body is ready it'll happen for you.

I have no experience in this area but I just want you to know I'm thinking of you. I'm glad you are starting to feel better physically and are beginning to feel emotionally more stable. I really wish you the best of luck.

I had 2 mc before having my baby. The last one was in April 2006 I started ttc again after my 2nd AF. And in September I was pg again (August doesn't count bcs I was in Spain for the whole month without my dh).
Now I have a BABY girl!!! all the grief and all the tears and all the anxiety have finally disapeared ,actually, it feels like it didn't happen to me (prob bcs I am not the old me anymore).
I am glad that you are feeling better. Just think positive and relax, I tried to approach my mc's as a kind of my body "training" and getting ready for the "good one".

I had a miscarriage 6 months before I got pg with Ellie - I was only 6 weeks pg when I miscarried and I didn't have any medical intervention - in fact it only occured to me after a week that I should tell my doctor who examined me and said it was all ok..
we waited until I had had a proper period before we started ttc'ing again..
good luck with it and if (when) you do get pg again, do try not to worry every minute or every time you got to the loo - I found it very difficult to relax when I got pg again..xx

Its funny you say that as thats exactly my biggest fear. I was talking to DH about this all last night, on one hand I really do want another child but on the other, I just wonder if I'm pushing my luck. I have a beautiful, healthy little girl and I love her to bits and maybe I should just be happy with that. I know that 35 isn't ancient, but because of what happened with my pregnancy with Ella, I'm already going to be high-risk without any other added factors.
In all likelihood I expect we'll try again. I'm just scared out of my head about it happening again.

It's nothing to do with luck. You can't say that. It's crap that dr's say it was just bad luck that you miscarried or I miscarried or any woman miscarried. It's nature. Animals miscarry all the time no one says to them it is bad luck. You can't push your luck because it's nothing to do with it. It's to do with genetics, egg quality, sperm quality and the miracle that is life. Yes you will become a serial knicker checker and yes if one tiny drop of blood should appear your heart will drop into your boots. But you could also have the most perfect baby at the end of it all. Don't let nature beat you, don't lie down and let yourself be kicked by this. You are 35 which is 3 years younger than me in fact the same age that I fell pregnant with Ollie. 35 is young the odds don't stack against you until you are 38. Every pregnancy is different you had a hard time with Ella doesn't mean that will happen again, yes they will tell you that you are higher risk but if at the end you have a healthy baby then it's been worth it. You and Angus are the only people that can decide what to do, read as many books as you want or look up as much as you want on the internet but it won't change the future.
