Hi. Had a suspected miscarriage, slowly over the past wk. HCG levels fell and the EPAU told me 2 do a pregnancy test in a wk. Couldnt wait and did 1 2day. It came up positive, just looked on the net and it says u may get a positive result for wks after, due 2 hormones. Anybody aware of this?

Bex

xx

I had a miscarriage in April and still had a positive pregnancy test 4 weeks later. I'd give the EPAU a call and talk to them - have they done an ultrasound?

I know you said that you'd had bleeding and cramps, but as I understood it, they'd do an ultrasound to see if you had any retained products or not.

Let us know how you get on.

I agree with Diz, you need an scan to see either way, if they havent already done one. I mc 20 months ago and i had an internal scan to see if there was anything there and then had to have a d&c.

But you can continue to get a positive test result upto 4 weeks later because of the hcg hormone left over if indeed yo have mc.

ring the EPAU and go through it with them.

Let us know how you get on

With my last mc I still had positive tests 3 wks afterwards.  You can still ovulate though even with have a positive hpt after a mc.  The hormones will be declining but it takes a few weeks to leave your blood stream.  It doesn't mean anything is wrong it's quite normal.  The only time it would be something to keep an eye on is if the hormone levels in your blood weren't dropping or they started to increase this could only be monitored with a blood test.
