I had an ERPC 10 weeks ago. I had some spotting after 4/5 weeks but nothing which resebled a period. I have had nothing since.

I went to see my GP who said it could take up to 6 months for my hormones to return to normal.

But I am just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience with periods not returning straight away and how long did it take for your periods to return??

Thanks

After my first mc I had an ERPC but my periods returned to normal fairly quickly my period arrived 30 days later.  However, I would say it took at least 3 cycles before everything returned to normal, I spotted on and off through 2 cycles.

I have heard of women that are given a tablet by their gp to kick start their hormones and bring on a period, but if your gp is saying it will take 6 months it would seem they are reluctant to prescribe anything, but it might be worth another visit.

The other thing that can happen is a small amount of the placenta is left behind and this can delay your period returning until it is dislodged.  Is it possible to see a different gp at your practise and chat through how you are feeling.  I presume you want your period to return so you can start trying to conceive again if so then it might be worth another visit to the doctor to express how you are feeling.

The other thing I have heard people trying is to take Agnus Castus which is a herbal preparation, I haven't taken it personally as I didn't want to mess around with my hormones and risk messing them up more so you would need to do some research into using something like this.

I am sorry for the loss of your baby and I hope that things return to normal for you soon.  Take care and let us know how you get on.
