Does anyone else have their hands and arms go numb and tingling and stiff when lying down, i have had an emg to test for carpal tunnel but my nerves were clear for any damage. Sometimes my fingers feel stiff or like my hands won't work properly, i am also very clumsy and have dropped everything this week. I work in a busy pharmacy and have really struggled this week with spd pain also. Idread going to bed sometimes, can anyone help

I have painful hands and get pins and needles in them, I also can't grip things some days.  Mine is due to the medicine I have to take every day for Ulcerative Colitis, it's a side affect.  Have you ever had your thyroid function tested?  Under active thyroid can cause pins and needles in your fingers.

Are you on any medications that could cause the problems with your hands?

i've had this on and off since my first pregnancy, ellas nearly six now, was told it was carpal tunnel, but after having emg came back negative for nerve damage. i'm on fluoxetine, co-odamol, and amitriptyline, but had symptoms before i was on any of these

Does anything make the pain worse, like cold or damp?  6 years seems a long time to have suffered with sore hands for no apparent reason....  Do you have problems with any other joints?  There are a few people on here that have joint problems which affects all their joints.  I know my pain is caused by my medication it affects my hands and knees mostly.

LOL it's me again!! I get this too.... even if i lift my arms above my head for more than 5 mins i loose all sensation even the pins and needles....

It's down to loose ligaments (i'm pretty certain) and joint hypermobility...... i'm having to go for muscle strenghting excerises for my whole body.....all you can do is be very aware of how far you move your arms out and upwards, the movements you make and keep wiggling your fingers as this helps the blood flow.

Might be worth asking your gp for a referal to see a rhumetologist. But you sound extremely similar to me... sorry if thats bad news! x

Hun mine started off from sleeping and i put it down to wierd positions etc, i can't open my own meds bottles (which is really frustrating) have to buy sachets as well as bottles in case kids need meds when dp's not about.

I struggle to open jars etc, now i can't open or screw bottles up to the correct tightness and my lo gets soaked!

My wrists have since gotten really sore i have aching knuckles (everything aches unless it's shooting or grinding), i have stiff fingers and believe being addicted on here helps loosen them up a little (well thats one of my excuses for being on here so much, lol)

I can now if i sit with an arm tucked behind my head or streched out on sofa etc it soon goes numb.... which is a pain as it's normally as i've just found a comfish position.

Sorry i just re-read the post i posted last night but doesn't tell you much about how it affects me.... it might be worth looking into though hun.

It's frustrating without answers when you feel like your falling apart (even then with answers it's the same)

How are you feeling this morning? and how's your eldest?
