help, got my scary work meeting. occy health state i can't go back, i know i have been as pro active as possible but yet work still seem to want more! it's like they think i am pulling a fast one. i have arranged so many appts and got so many things sorted but yet it doesn't make me better. i cannot be expected to go back into an environment where i have to deal with 15  stone 6 footers with head injuries wanting to get out of bed or move them in the bed, or transfer them out of bed or be on my feet solidly for 6 + hrs and that's just work! i am possibly being consigned to a desk job which means my 10 yrs in itu will disappear. they just have a good way of making me feel like i've done something wrong. so please think of me at 330 pm.

i need to know if it's finanncially viable to stop work and claim benefits or to keep struggling on.

gotta go, full blown toddler tantrum happening at my feet!

hard hats on!

hi, sorry taken so long to reply.

i came away from meeting with mixed feelings, but i ensured i held my head up high and did not want them to see the effect all this has had on me.

i am frustrated as we have to go through old ground, and i feel like they are trying to slip me up. they still don't seem to get it though, they still said that if disability and discrimination act comes into place then they as employers have to place restrictions on my post to allow me to come back, they will also do a phased return, but that won't be in place forever. i think they just don't get it... i cannot come back and do that level of patient care again. even if i don't help with any turns, do any lifting of anything, have a confused patient that i'm likely to have to have physical interaction with, i can't ignore a patient trying to get out of bed, pull out a breathing tube, or not help when there is an emergency or an admission, that pretty much rules out all my job.

i have asked, as already suggested by occy health, for a desk job.

i got nowhere, they seem to think that it's back to my original job, then if can't redeployment, but i have to do what is both available or suitable no matter what, if there are no jobs, then it's not good. i would have all my sickness taken into consideration over last ten years then have a meeting with assistant director of operations and she decides if i can stay. i have had previous spells off as back and neck cause problems in past so have had it pointed out alot of sickness is not good. they will cross bridge when come to it. no mention of pension off due to ill health, so the sods are trying to diddle me out of a pension i've paid into over the last 15 yrs.

i have not had anyone with me at meeting but was told that i should. i said i didn't feel the need to as i had no cause for concern, but they insisted i contact the unit union rep! they did it about 3/4 times. not sitting well, i have to say.

i will not necessarily continue to be on full pay until 6 month off sick, they now look at sickness and can start half pay earlier but should give me a months notice.

so i told them i'll be having a meeting with wages and maintain my own open dialogue with them rather than leave it to chance.

so i am still scared, fed up and not feeling well today so feeling very sorry for self!

Awww hunny sorry it's not a positive out come.... do you have to have a union rep or can you have another member of the public? If so i'd be willing to come and testify as to how disabling this condition is.... but how it doesn't affect your mental status.

I suppose they are saying you have to have a union rep to make sure they are not trying to lean on you too much etc. Might be advisable as it's someone else who hopefully will be on your side.

Speak to a solicitor (if you can) of cab and get advice on if they can do that to your pension etc.

Good luck hun you know where i am and i'll do all i can to help x

hi chappies, sorry you didn't get the result you needed. If i was in your position i would definately go in with a union rep. They will speak for you and know ins an out of how far you they can lean on you. Can't believe you've paid into a pension for fifteen years and they are trying to diddle you. My friend has just gone through all this with scottish power. She took a union rep in every time and was definately glad she did, now she is waiting for decision to be pensioned off.

good luck

jackie
