it's a nice day for a walk so i'm going to try tom with the baby reins today. he has been able to walk from 10 months old, but the last week or so he has been gaining confidence, and can walk longer distances.  i plan on trying him for a short walk to the shops. we have a grassy 'pavement' for soft landings, and i'll take his stroller for when it gets too much for him.

he's napping now, so hopefully he'll be energised and raring to go when he wakes.  i'm so excited too.

has anyone else taken lo out for their first walk yet?

Not with reins, but holding his hand.  Travis started walking at 9 months.

We took him to the fields at the back...and he ran away from us while DP and I sat on the grass!    We walked about with him in Asda today.

Enjoy your first wee walk outside Tom!!

Spooky! Me and Edward have just got back from one, it was just a short stroll around the block. We do it regually and he holds my hands mainly but he is gaining in confidence every day. He loves it and when he wants to go out he stands at the front door banging it!

Good luck taking him out, I'm sure he'll love it!

lolol i forgot to mention that we had a slight hiccup with putting on the sandals.  the little rascal didn't want to wear them, he's never worn shoes before.  i've got a feeling this walk isn't going to be easy!

Ellie is making no attempts whatsoever to walk!  As soon as you let go of her hand, she just plonks on the floor!  I had just assumed that she would be walking by the time of my sister's wedding which is in 4 weeks time so I bought her a really silly frilly dress - I now don't think it will happen so I'm going to have to get her another one because there is no way she can crawl in the one I've got her lol

Awww let us know how it goes Zoe.  Fred still doesn't walk, except round furniture, which is a shame, as I have been trying to get my washing out on the line all afternoon.  I'm now gonna have to put it out and then bring it damp! Or leave it out overnight, which I hate!

it was absolutely hilarious!

he refused to walk out of the house, prefering to crawl instead so i plonked him in his stroller over to the shopping mall.  once there i got him out with the reins on...he took about 5 steps and went to crawl.  then he decided he wanted to run-only in the opposite direction to me.  so here i am, crazy woman pushing a stroller with one hand, chasing after her tear away toddler who has his reins flapping behind him.  there was this elderly trini gent reading a newspaper near by in fits of laughter. oh and i forgot to mention that tom has the tiniest feet ever, so he lost one of his sandals in the midst of the great escape.

i think we'll have to have another go at this walking outside lark... this was just the rehersal!! lol

Awww, it sounds so cute. I love them at that stage. Everyone thinks they are so cute as long as you are not the parent having to chase after them..

At least you are passed that back breaking stage. The one where you are bent double while they hold your fingers with their two wee hands
