I need you input and opinions!

I'd really like Joshua to do something, just once a week, but something other than school. I tried the football thing and it was too long for him, so he got tired and therefore upset. I might try that agin in a few years when he's that bit older. I was thinking of dance classes, or the martial arts. Ive been looking into dance classes all summer, with no real joy finding anywhere local. I was going to walk down to the martial arts centre later in the month (new classes start end of Sept). Anyway, told I goes into school and there were some new leaflets on the side. Its a dance classes for 4-7 yr olds just in the Galeri around the corner from us. I have rang the lady up, asked what type of dancing, and she said its modern contempory type, street type dancing. I told her how old Joshua was and she said she's had a lot of 4 years old in the past and they've always enjoyed it. The classes start tonight, she has invited us down, and we dont have to pay the term up front, she said we can pay for the one session, see how he likes it, see what I think then decide. If Joshua wants to go, then i think I will, but what do you all think about this type of dancing at this age?

I always danced throughout my childhood, and I loved it. I did morris dancing when I was tiny, then ballroom/latin American maybe when I was a bit older than Joshua then I also started Disco. The lady said this type of dancing isn't really like any of those so Im not sure what to expect. Would you although your child to part-take in dancing at 4??

** oh the class is only 45 minutes for his age group so Im thinking thats not to long for him he can run rings round me for longer than 45 minutes without tiring lol

I think its a fantastic idea and I am sure he would love it!

Ellis started tap and ballet when she was four and liked it at the beginning but then got a bit bored of it.

She prefers the kind of dancing you are looking at so I am trying to find a class around here for that.

I think its great for them to have things like this to go to

Ellis at the moment has swimming for an hour on a Wednesday and has just started a gymnastics class on a Saturday morning which she is loving.

Let us know what he thinks of it - Sounds ace! It'll be like the kind of hip/hop dancing you see in music videos etc - very fast and very energetic but loads of fun!

I would love to get lessons like this for myself!

xxxx

I also think this is a great idea. I was thinking of starting the girls and they are only 2. They have said they will accept them and see if they take to it. Its on a Sturday morning so i will go along and have a look. Chris get him into it if he enjoys it. I don't see why he won't. Street dancing is all the new rage now so go for it. xxxxx

My dd was 2 and a half when she started ballet lessons and she has been dancing ever since. She is nearly 16. I am sure it has helped her co ordination and also her rhythm and she is now very musical ( plays trombone and piano)

He absolutely loved it and when I said did he want to go again he was bouncing around shouting please mummy its good fun!! So there we go, he's all paid up for a term. The dance teacher said he was a little quieter than most but he joined in all the dances and seemed to enjoy it (I wasnt allowed to watch). He's even showd me a few of his new moves and told me thats what real dancing looks like lol

I watched a little video on the internet that I found and I would love to do something like it lol I asked if they did adult classes but they sadly dont, but I'll be looking out to see what they do in Conwy and Llandudno (lots more goes on that way lol)

hi, so pleased he enjoyed it. i hope this gives you heart. maddie (6yrs) has been on and off doing ballet since 2 and a bit. the classs she is in has at one point had two boys, now only one. he's a real lad so i was suprised he had interest in ballet, but he left and actually came back. i know josh is not doing ballet but all he's got to see is the dancers used for pop acts or even boogie beebies, pete the male dancer on there. he is a nice guy also as his wife was pregnant and inhospital with me and we had our lo a day apart, but you can imagime maddies face when she realsied her idol was there in front of her! it's so good to get josh to do some activities. why not try your local sports centre?? maddie does trampolining and loves it. hope that's a useful idea.

The local sports centre doesnt cater for much in his age range, we asked there first. He is down on the swimming waiting list for lessons.

He's got dance again tonight, last week he kept asking me what day was Wednesday so he could go bless him. He was showing me all the dancing he had learnt he's a right little mover lolol He seems to really enjoy it and already is picking up different techniques.

He's now the only lad I think that goes, but he said thats ok because he likes to do the dancing so he'll dance with the girls, bless lol The teacher said he stays focused and does as he's told, so thats good, I was a bit worried he'd just run or jump around for the lesson. Well worth it for £3 a session!
