I thought I would let you know of a positive end to this, we so  often hear about negative outcomes, and deaths, but here's mine! I will copy the letter in first then tell you the outcome

I am writing to formally complain about a few of the boys on the school bus from Porthmadog to Beddgelert. For two days running one or other of my sons have come home with bruised, or severely sore arms from being thumped alot on the way home from school!

Arwel came home yesterday in tears, with a swollen arm, and the beginnings of a bruise, which has turned into 2 bruises today, all evening yesterday he was struggling to use his right arm, and I almost excused him from P.E. because of this. He did not react on the bus as he didn't want to be seen as a wimp, however by the time he got home, it was a different matter. I decided to have a word with the child, and due to the fact he was late to school today, I happened to see him this morning, and warned him if it happened again I would write a formal complaint in! Although Hywel had received a couple of punches on the way home from this boy and one other, he wasn't too bothered. However today Hywel came home from school again like Arwel with a poorly arm, not to the same extent but he is complaining of it being painful, this time 3 boys were mentioned two were the same ones from yesterday. He was also apparently punched in the face, and although there was redness, there is nothing more severe noticed.

I understand that Hywel is not a perfect child, however, his brother informed me that he did not start this one, and I believe him as he would not lie for Hywel!

I expect the school to deal with this incident as soon as possible, and nip it in the bud! Having been on the receiving end of bullying in my secondary school, when I was younger, I know the hell that they can cause, and I know from past experience how well the school has dealt with bullying. And it is for this reason only that I am writing to you. I have been informed that this kind of treatment by others can be taken up with the local police and I can have them prosecuted for assault! I am not keen to go via the police, I would prefer that you deal with it.

My ds2 (HYWEL) came home from school Thursday, the day the letter went to school telling me the headmaster was absent that day but would call me as soon as he could, whcih was today to tell me that he had dealt with the issue, although he couldn't tell me the details, as that was between the school, the child punished and that child's parents, just that it had been dealt with, hopefully this will be the end of the situation, but if not, please contact them immediately as they can then take further more drastic measures!

What he didn't know was ds2 came home on Thursday telling me the 3 boys were now officially on their ast warning on the school bus, if it happens again, then they are to report immediately and the kids will no longer have the privilige of going on the school bus as they will be banned for the duration of their school life, on top of this one of the boys involved has been told if he does this again he will be expelled as he is one of the naughtiest kids at that school!

So you see complaing when necessary is good, and boys came home so happy on Thursday it was unreal.  Now I know they are at a good school

Good to see the school is doing something about bullying.  It can make school life hell and the bus is the worst place for it as they think they can get away with it because they are not on school grounds.

Hun that is fantastic news.

I was bullied when I was at secondary school and left my first school because the school dealt with it so terribly. At the second school I went to I was also bullied but the school had a fantastic anti bullying campaign set up and I got through it really well.

I hope this is the end of it for your boys.

AT LAST - A SCHOOL THAT HAS LISTENED

instead of denying all knowledge of anything happening which is usually the case

WELL DONE VIX

theres nothing worse than bullying - i suffered thru my whole secondary years by being bullied, and the school did nothing whatsoever.

luv lilybxxx

Aww thats good news vix.

They are having an anti bullying week at Harry's school they are all wearing blue bands, and are having a Blue non uniform day tomorrow.

One of the things that worries me about Harry going to school is 'will he get bullied' kids are extremly cruel, and you read all sorts about bullying these days

well done for complaining!, and im glad your boys seem happier

same ere too rin, my Ryans having one of those days too.

Today I saw dd2's teacher, shes been verbally bullied by a younger girl, but its getting to the point of her pointing Briana out in the playground and shouting at her with her friends saying shes got a funny face lol

so I spoke to her teacher today as I had to see her anyway and they are nipping that one while its hot, they will be speaking with the girls teacher, and the girl herself to tell her it wont be tolerated.

I said to the teacher I didnt want briana going thru her whole primary and middle school then onto high school with this particular child verbally bullying as can happen, its not nice and its not fair if it would mean her self esteem suffering.

At least these days schools seem to listen, well the good ones seem to, others can be very complacent about bullying

luv lilybxx
