For the last few weeks my mate has been picking us all up in the morning and giving us a lift up to school as its a real hike up really steep hills.

Tomorrow Rachel is gonna go on her own as it will make my mornings a little easier and will cut some time off my friends journey time.

I am a wreck.  What if Rach wants me at the gates what if she wants another kiss and cuddle what if she just needs me?  I feel and have been physically sick over the thought of not being there if she needs me and hate the thought of her going into school upset.  We have to start the whole getting to school without mummy thing now as she will be going on the school bus soon which she can not wait for.

Rachel is fine with the whole situation but its just me.

Trudi.  xx

Awww don't worry Trudi!  You watch her go without a problem!  It's more upsetting for us than it is for them!  I remember ds1's first day of school, I followed in my car (they got a minibus) and he went off with a huge grin on his face, just like a big kid, me, i was in floods of tears and couldn't see where I was driving to go to moms!

Rest assured all mommy's do go through this and you will be fine.  Just think you have it all to go through again when Jack starts!

Awww, I really feel for you. The worse of it is that the lo's are always so fine about these things and desperate for their independance.

Beks isn't 4 until next month and still at nursery but we have been having a conversation for the past few months about what age you can go to school yourself.

She seems to think once she starts primary I don't need to take her. She has now decided she wants to start big school (whatever that is) and I won't need to take her then.

I am sure Rachel will be fine and good for you deciding to give her that bit of independance. It is so hard letting them grow up sometimes, but as you said if she is going to be going on the school bus then you have to give her that bit more space now. I am sure she will be so happy with herself for going to school all by herself that the thought of a kiss or a cuddle won't even enter her head.

Let us know how it all goes.

Well thats it shes gone.  She just carried on like it was the most normal thing ever and no big deal.  We had a kiss and a cuddle and she waved like a maniac as she went passed me and looked really really happy.

So im just sitting here now not knowing what to do with myself coz im normally out now doin the whole school thing and not normally home till about 9.30am/9.45am.  So im just have a little cry on my own lol.

Trudi.  xx

I didn't let Natasha walk to school on her own until just a couple of months ago and she is 11, i am just a bit over protective, lol. I am sure she will be fine, and you will be to, lol
