My very helpful angelic daughter has changed!  She is now an absolute nightmare!  Although she doesn't scream and slam doors, she has become very sulky, lazy and has become useless at helping me with the babies! I have to tell her every single job umpteen times and even then she is not too happy to do them.  Anyone got any idea what it could be or is it just her going through the teenage stuff!  Not that I object but I didn't even see this coming.  And all of a sudden she's expecting me to spend money that I don't have!  Thats not like her either!

She sounds just like my dd, a typical teenager. My dd has just managed to crawl out of bed and it is 1.30 then expects her breakfast. - Me 'sorry breakfast was hours ago' Her- big mega sulk and has returned to bed.

She can be really nice but also extremely moody and I am afraid from one day to the next I am not sure how she will be. Yes she also believes money grows on trees and can't understand why most of her clothes have to come from shops like primark and not top shop. Some things she will only wear once, so I refuse to pay a lot so I am a mean mummy!!!. Also this week she told me that I have a horrible laugh and that I can't eat properly. I have now learnt to ignore these things and her beheviour as much as I can. If she does something to deliberately annoy her brother, then she is told off, but it is getting harder telling her off as she is cheeky back.

Anyway welcome to the world of a teenage dd. I am sure I was never that bad.

Yes Vix it def sounds like the teenage years. How old is she now? Maybe her hormones are changing too. I remember these years so well hehe. I wasn't bad but like your dd i was moody and sulked all the time lol.

Oh well not much has changed there then pmsl.

To be honest you could prob sit her down and talk to her but we all know once the hormones take over theres not much we can do.

I found with both of my girls once they hit 14 they changed over night to moody, sulky, selfish little darlings.  Combination of hormones and pressure at school I think, plus peer pressure to fit in.  Girls can be horrid to each other and I think with the hormones as well girls start to feel very insecure.  That's where the asking for items we can't afford starts and then getting upset and sulky when we say no.  They also seem to develop selective hearing even worse at this age and only seem to be able to concentrate on one thing at a time either, tv, boys or clothes.  Hayley is 18 now and I can't even say it gets better because it hasn't yet....

I heard on the radio that there is a hormone called melamine that allows us to fall asleep.....Teenagers don't realse this hormone until late at night which won't make them sleepy until late at night so they sleep later in the afternoon to catch up on their sleep. (all animals produce this hormone). you know that if your sleep is messed up that you would be in a mood.

If I were you I would put it down to hormones, but at the same time I would have a talk to her just a chat (don't lecture, I absoutely hated the whole lecture routine).

I never minded kids when I was younger, I just had no patience with them, it's only now I realise how hard it was. I would ask her to help out around the house but as for helping with the babies I woulld forget about that one.

she will come around, i was  a very moody teen, actually I think I am still moody, lol.

If I'm honest getting her to do housework is worse than getting to help with the babies!  The reason behind that is babies turn off at 6pm (or there abouts! lol)  She is only just 12, so wasn't ready for it to hit now.  Oh well at least I now know that it's not just me!  Thanks ladies, I think I need to do one of the barns as a flat for when she really hits them big style! lol

I found with my girls the 12 - 14 was the tears and strops stage.  Both could burst into tears for no apparent reason and be unconsolable.  They swung from between being little girls to older girls on an hourly basis.  Depending which mood they were in depended if I could get them to help do anything or not.

Ha she started her periods properly now? It sounds hormonal to me.

I could be stroppy but I wasnt a complete cow. Try reasoning with her and if that doesnt work dont get worked up or its going to be a long 8 years until she is no longer a teenager!

Yes she has had a couple of months of proper monthly's but she has just finished.  This is suppose to be my week of giving hell not hers! lol

Sam, she often looks like she could burst into tears more so over small things!  She cam home from school crying over something disgusting that someone had said about Hywel and Fred thinking it was dangerous! bless her she is so naive.  and so soft!
