do they always have to wear the wrong clothes at the wrong time!

As usual every year the kids entered creative work, bracelets, woodwork, photos that kind of thing, into a local craft show.  I asked my son to change before we went, which he refused to do, my dd on the other hand did!  Only to find he had won the most points in his age group, and had a photo taken to go in the local paper.

What was wrong with his t-shirt you ask, it had the phrase 'Silent but deadly' on the front with a teddy bear letting off!  I couldn't believe it!

However we were so proud of the fact that he won I let it slide with just a couple of sarcastic comments bless him.  I have put a picture of him in my gallery, but i made him cover part of the front up especially

Fran is the one in our house that dresses hmm differently.  She has a nack of throwing just anything on and it doesn't match and looks scruffy but somehow she has managed to turn it into her own style and I wouldn't expect her to look any different now.  She has glasses, braces and messy straggly hair but pulls it off in some strange way.

Hayley on the other hand is perfectly matched and hair is always brushed and perfect, glasses always fit and don't slide down her nose.  Her skin is perfect and slightly tanned.  So annoying!

I just remember my big sis, wearing makeup and had her own style as well, so I just let them be themselves.  I can't wait to see the mil's face though! lol she will be very cross with me, but then she hated me for giving my other son a mohican, and daddy cut it all off before he went to camp!  boring daddy!  I've had my hair all the colours of the rainbow, so I can't really stop them to a certain point.

People say would you let your kids do that?  well my answer is yes if thats what they want, but i get round it by telling the kids only if daddy says so, that way I know it won't happen til they are 16!

Poor Hayley is 16 and her father still won't let her do anything.  She goes back to his house from mine with all manner of strange things done to her hair and nails.  I would much rather they experiment and tell me where I have a degree of control than go behind my back and do it anyway, but thier father can't cope with that.

Maybe it's a man thing!  My mil is always worried about what the neighbours say!  Personally I think if they don't like it thats up to them, I don't see the point in being exactly the same as everyone else, you have to be you!

when we moved into this village i had bright pink hair n dh told me it wasnt really suitable for where we were living now!! so i left it and wore stranger clothing! my old neighbour thought i was 18! lol

my mum n dad have always let us experiment-within reason. they nowhave 2 daughters with tattoos and piercings-although neither of us wear our facial piercings now! and out tatoos are generally covered-cos of where they are on our bods!

my mum used to make our clothes and i can sew quite well so my clothes have always been slightly different anyway-i just see it as a way of expressing my individuality.
